Love, and how to tell it's genuine
Saturday. 10.14.06 10:25 am
Whattup? It's your boy Adam again. As usual, anytime I get a inspirational thought or something I find, intriguing, I share it with you, my friends. Today I was thinking about Love. What is it exactly? Why do we need/want it? How is it expressed? I came across these thoughts because i've been talking to someone i've met recently and I wanted to make sure my intentions were pure. Here's what I came up with.

Love is not what is commonly thought of as portrayed in sitcoms, movies, etc. There is no such thing as love at first sight. No one person can "complete you". We all have flaws, but you cannot expect someone to fix them for you, that's something you have to do for yourself. Love does however cause growth. Love will show you your flaws and help you improve upon them. This is expressed in "unconditional love". It is a rare find so meet someone who will take the time and have the patience to see through the times when your insecurities shine through and blind your relationship, whether it be platonic or romantic. So my question to you reader, is "do the people you surround yourself really love you? do they have YOUR best interests ar heart? is your relationship mutually beneficial?" Answering these questions may give you some heavily enlightening insight to where you are in your life and in your relationships.

Also, one must love themselves before there is any potential for them to love another. This may be common knowledge, but who really is using this information? Knowledge is powerless when dormant in the mind. For anyone who is struggling with self-identitiy, or any sort of insecurity the are having with themselves, I would recommend the book "Why Am I Afraid To Tell You Who I Am?" by John Powell. This book is very helpful and eye opening. The basic premise of the book is summed up by one statement "I can only know as much of myself as I have the courage to share with you." So, the more you open up yourself to other people openly and honestly, the more you will actually learn about yourself.

Well that's all I got for today....Love you all.
